Women of Karbala

women-of-karbala

To the women from each and every nation,
Learn from the women of Bani Hashim.

***
Umme Farwa

Raised alone by Umm e Farwa, she brought up a lion
Whose father was poisoned till death, he was Qasim
He kept his promise to Hassan and stood for Hussain
He fought, until he was cut into pieces for this religion
Now look at Farwa, who collects the pieces of her son
She gave this huge sacrifice, against injustice she won.

***

Ummul Banieen
She changed her name, for the sake of Imam Ali
To not remind pain, she became Ummal Baneen
She treated the sons of Zahra as her very own
For that is how her Abbas became Hussain’s soul
Just as his mother, protected Ali from any sadness
Abbas gave his life, trying to save Sakina’s distress.

***

Umm Al-Laila

He was the resemblance of the Holy Prophet of God
His voice reminded Hussain, the prayer of Muhmmad
By Umm e Laila, Ali Akbar as a huge sacrifice was given
Surely, by a look alike of Ahmad, their hearts would soften
They remained cold, like dead idols and stabbed his chest
They broke the mirror of Mustafa, and failed their test.

***

Lady Rubab

In hope, her 6-month-old would get some water
Rubab, let go of Ali Asghar, parting away forever
Less did she know, that this was her final farewell
For how could she, imagine the worst and dwell?
Hussain returned back with Asghar’s neck torn
Rubab’s soul shook, in silence unable to mourn
But that is not all, Rubab had seen
Her daughter, Sakina didn’t find sleep for days
She was tortured not just one but in many ways
Her clothes were burned, and ear rings ripped
Related to Ahmad, is that why she was punished?
When asked for Hussain, his head they presented
Broken, in sleep from this world, she descended.

***
Syeda Zaynab

Now, Look at Zaynab, who gave up her children
to protect Hussain, became her single mission
She spoke out loud against the nasty tyrants,
She reminded the women of God’s assurances
For now if you ask, why did Hussain take his women?
Look around, in their calamity, they spoke his message.

So think again, oh my women of each and every nation
The grandson of Muhammad, by you saved his mission
Doubt not your worth, no matter the pain you endure
For by God, no creation but you is the strongest of all

The Silent Killers of Hussain

28

He knew from the beginning
of his very first breath,
How tragically he would
be slaughtered to death.

***
He saw his grandfather,
mother and father weep.
No matter what this promise
he declared to always keep.

***

To rescue the nation of Ahmad,
became Hussain’s ultimate mission.
Wont the saviour arrive when he
is called to stop oppression?

***

Knowing where death awaits, to the
call of those people, marched Hussain

They betrayed him due to cowardness,
leaving him slayed and broken.

***

Would you not rush to help
those who are your beloved?
Then why do you question
Hussain, when he kept his word.

***

You see, this was their test, by
God would Hussain be saved?
Together they could have won
against Yazid, instead they cheated.

***

They were sacred from Yazid’s judgement
but now they can’t escape from God’s
How would they face Muhammad, while
letting his family remain without shrouds?

***

Faith cannot be spread using a sword

In the era of darkness, a radiant
light from the heavens, took birth,
With his actions not just words,
he guided humans to self-worth.

***

He taught them, who was their
lord, the most merciful of all,
despite our sins, if sincere, we
can be forgiven before we fall.

***

We are often told, no matter
what, to always fear our Lord,
‘To hell’ one is condemned,
before God’s judgement is called.

***

But you see, Hussain, just like
Muhammad, didn’t force religion,
For faith which has reached the
heart can never hurt any creation.

***

I now understand, why in Karbala
Hussain never used his sword,
He sacrifice his family and him-
self, to save the faith of his Lord.

***

So, hold on to this very faith, which
was sent to cure every heart ache
Be cautions, in the name of religion,
never force anyone, to hopelessly break.

Lesson from the People of Prophet Salih (as)

pexels-photo-355580

With compassion, by Salih, the
nation of Thamud, was requested
Only though knowing their Lord,
mankind could remain protected.

***

Sent directly by God, a
medicine to every living soul,
to fill what was once empty,
preserving them to be whole.

***
To prove how true was his noble
message, he was demanded,
To ‘emerge a she-camel, from
a rock,’ they blindly worshipped.

***

God accepted their request
and showed his miracle
in return, water must always
be in access to the she-camel.

***

They allowed the access of water as
commanded for just a short period
Once again, they grew ignorant
and from God’s path, they deviated.

***

It was just merely water, that
they felt too stingy to share
A miracle they once asked God,
they now planned to massacre.

***

I wonder, if I were God, how
angered of this act would I be
But he is the Lord of All, most
merciful, if only they could see.

***

For this sin committed, God still
gave them a fair chance, in 3 days
Their punishment would be called
off, if only they seeked forgiveness.

***

Proudly, they challenged
the punishment of God,
upon themselves they
called the wrath of God.

***

I now wonder how many times do
we receive gifts without asking
A gift directly from God, to keep
our souls pure, from sinning.

***

Everything the Lord does,
is always best for us
So why do we abuse his
gift, becoming more worse.

***

Explore deep inside

‘My kind is much better
than your kind’
I wonder, what exactly
have they defined?

***
One who claims to be
known from a superior race
Show me, how are you higher
and others are a disgrace?

***

Can you prove me, just one race
has served all of humanity?
With no injustice ever done, while others
have caused nothing but misery?

***

I can’t and nor can you bring
such an impossible prove
For I, myself, full of faults
have so much to improve.

***

Day in and day out, we all strive
to live and become the best
But when you discriminate,
you steal our path to this quest

***

You see, no one was not born with any
special talents, due to their nationalities
We learned to differ, according to our
interests, forming different personalities
***

And so, no one was born racist,
it was never their mentality
Taught to dislike those, without
knowing, created bigotry

***

‘My kind is much better
than your kind’
I wonder what exactly
have they defined?

***

Could you create a painting
bright with just one colour?
How would you remove its
dullness, I now wonder?

***

For colours only makes a painting
more beautiful to the eyes
And as humans, let’s explore,
what does each hold deep inside.

***

When throwing a small stone
across water, can cause a ripple
Speak up against racism, make
a difference, even if it’s little.

Prophet Yusuf (Jonah) True self

For being loyal and
a kind-hearted son
Without envy, or
jealousy from anyone

***

Yusuf was given the
knowledge of dreams
For God rewards the
doer of good deeds.

***

To test, how obedient was
Allah’s this gifted slave
Yusuf was trapped, and his
soul, he alone could save.

***

When the wife of the Aziz,
asked him to join this sin
He proclaimed, from his true
self, he could never give in.

***

‘No good comes to those who
do wrong’ He would explain
Ignored the words of God, she
approached him without no shame.

***

Yusuf, then asked his Lord, to show
him a way out of this wrath.
To the doer of good, who passed
his task. God then opened a path.

***

Though he escaped, he was
still unjustly imprisoned
A gift from this world, he
received for being resistant.

***

But you see, Yusuf
was never sad.
He accepted prison
with open hands.

***

For he knew, he was free
in the sight of his Lord
And any calamity shrinks,
with the protection of God

When Alone, would you be like Ali?

19095660_10213156276930310_1446861022841973342_o

Alone in worship, day and
night he would remain
For alone, your souls,
one day will also be taken.

***

He showed the world, the master of his
and every creation is only Allah.
While his isolation with God was
feared, he remained firm in his Salah.

***

Ibn Mujlim, sought a deep desire
to marry a woman, as a condition
Accepted would be his proposed,
if completed Ali’s assassination.

***

While Ali remained lost in
prayer, conversing with his Lord
Like a coward, attacked ibn Muljim
poisoning Ali with his sword.

***

In this sacred month
of forgiveness, ibn Muljim
For the sake of his desires,
betrayed this religion.

***

I wonder, are you and I
any different than him..
Before you put desires
above God, think again.

***

When alone, would you be like Ali,
lost in his Lord’s remembrance..
Or like his killer, lost in fulfillment
of desires- chosen to be forsaken.
