Women of Karbala

To the women from each and every nation,
Learn from the women of Bani Hashim.

Umme Farwa

Raised alone by Umm e Farwa, she brought up a lion
Whose father was poisoned till death, he was Qasim
He kept his promise to Hassan and stood for Hussain
He fought, until he was cut into pieces for this religion
Now look at Farwa, who collects the pieces of her son
She gave this huge sacrifice, against injustice she won.

Ummul Banieen
She changed her name, for the sake of Imam Ali
To not remind pain, she became Ummal Baneen
She treated the sons of Zahra as her very own
For that is how her Abbas became Hussain’s soul
Just as his mother, protected Ali from any sadness
Abbas gave his life, trying to save Sakina’s distress.

Umm Al-Laila

He was the resemblance of the Holy Prophet of God
His voice reminded Hussain, the prayer of Muhmmad
By Umm e Laila, Ali Akbar as a huge sacrifice was given
Surely, by a look alike of Ahmad, their hearts would soften
They remained cold, like dead idols and stabbed his chest
They broke the mirror of Mustafa, and failed their test.

Lady Rubab

In hope, her 6-month-old would get some water
Rubab, let go of Ali Asghar, parting away forever
Less did she know, that this was her final farewell
For how could she, imagine the worst and dwell?
Hussain returned back with Asghar’s neck torn
Rubab’s soul shook, in silence unable to mourn
But that is not all, Rubab had seen
Her daughter, Sakina didn’t find sleep for days
She was tortured not just one but in many ways
Her clothes were burned, and ear rings ripped
Related to Ahmad, is that why she was punished?
When asked for Hussain, his head they presented
Broken, in sleep from this world, she descended.

Syeda Zaynab

Now, Look at Zaynab, who gave up her children
to protect Hussain, became her single mission
She spoke out loud against the nasty tyrants,
She reminded the women of God’s assurances
For now if you ask, why did Hussain take his women?
Look around, in their calamity, they spoke his message.

So think again, oh my women of each and every nation
The grandson of Muhammad, by you saved his mission
Doubt not your worth, no matter the pain you endure
For by God, no creation but you is the strongest of all

Fear Of the saviour

You seized the rights of
Allah, given of your leader
From his family you snatched
away every sip of water.

Without a sword, he showed you all to
abstain bloodshed and enter God’s path
But instead you killed him and gained
the Most Merciful’s worst wrath

I am not surprised why do
you forbid his mourning,
Just as you denied him
water, you deny us grieving.

How do we stop, knowingly,
that our lives are always at risk
For only through Hussain, in this
land human rights still exists

You see, we try to change, and
to change we need to live
For our leader’s return every
sacrifice, we are willing to give.

Just like Muhammad, Mahdi too
will be a mercy to mankind
He will show, how God- from
your dark soul’s, you’ve denied.

I now know, it’s not hate, against
my pure school of thought
It’s fear, for as believers you’d
be exposed, as an enemy of God

Tragedy of Muslim Bin Aqeel

Invited by the people of Kufa,
for asking Hussain to arrive
saying they need an imam,
as they felt Islam wouldn’t survive.

Trusted by Hussain was
his cousin, Muslim bin Aqeel
He sent him to see the situation,
Kufa’s people had currently been

With his two sons, Muhammad
and Ibrahhim, leaving,
Madina to Kufa, unware, their
death would be soon waiting.

Reported back to the Imam,
Muslim confirmed their loyalty
Thousands gave their allegiance
to Hussain, yet some hid falsely

Among the people were
spies of Yazid, waiting to kill
Muslim and his children, for
their worldly desires, to fulfil

And so one false, coward follower,
sundered Muslim bin Aqeel
Trying to leave Kufa, Muslim and
his children found every exit sealed

More than 50 thousand solders
of Ibn Ziyad, dragged Muslim’s body
demanding it to be thrown down
from the roof top, mercilessly.

At his final moment, Muslim bin
Aqeel, was asked about his last wish,
1st a simple burial, he wanted, yet his
body was thrown down like rubbish

And the 2nd he wished, for his Imam
to never enter this ruthless city
until his last breath he wanted
to protect his Muhammad’s legacy.

His children too hid in a household
of a childless, generous lady
but her husband wanted a reward
from this world’s most miserly

He heard the cries of the Ibrahim and
Muhammad, Muslim’s innocent sons
Chopped their heads, distancing himself
from heaven, in the hereafter was all he won.

Fatima Sugrah, the ill daughter of hussain

He took his final farewell, from
his Grandfather and mother
he took his entire family, but
left in Madina, his ill daughter.
Patience of Zahra, from which
Sugrah was named by Hussain
Before leaving Madina, he asked
her to act upon this holy name.

As their steps left the household, she
prayed for them to safely come home
but, she was unknown, how from one city
to another her father’s head would roam.

Time passed by, each month, until
Muharram came, she grew restless
To quench her thirst one night, she
heard the cries of her family, oppress.

Slayed were the family of Muhammad,
together, each body was trampled upon
And far away from Karbala, in Madina,
Sugrah’s soul was too slowly crushed upon.

Remained Human while humanity was tortured to death.

As a new born, the words
in praise his only lord
From Muhammad’s
voice, Husain was told

Instilled into his soul, to
obey the best creator
And blessed with the best
of creation to be his teacher

And Ali, his father for whom
giving up was never an answer
to Fatima, a Queen who taught
how to be a compassionate leader

From Hussain’s first breath his family knew
the journey of his stand until his tragic death
But never once did they lose hope in their lord,
for the ultimate truth their vision always held.

And with such heavy trials, in this
world, this household had lead
they taught, that even when alone,
without God you are never left

For they gave everything,
from the only piece of bread
to their beloved son and
grandson’s holy head.

To this religion and its teachings
where no other books, read
to remain human, even when
humanity was tortured to death

What Zaynab’s eye witnessed

-Words can never do justice of what these eyes have witnessed,
-for it’s by the will of God, how my sight still exists.
-I watched the burning door fall upon my mother
-leaving her with broken ribs, weeping, longing for her father…
-I silently sat there watching her pass by,
-I watched the one who could carry the door of khayber,
shaking to bury the Messenger of God’s daughter.
– These eyes then had to witness the loss of her Father,
– The struck of Ibn muljim separated this beloved daughter
  from God’s bravest warrior.
– But even that wasn’t enough for these eyes,
for it then witnessed Hassan coughing out blood
– The change of his skin, screamed
it’s farewell from my this brother..
– Then finally the time came, where not just one. But my entire family was snatched away from me.
– The innocent bodies of Aun O Muhammad, cries, mother we have given everything for your brother
– My nephew Ali Akbar smiles, aunty I defended your brother
– My Abbas, with no hands, hides his face, forgive me for I couldn’t get Sakina water.
– I look around, in all directions, until my eyes caught the sight
of the knife on the neck of Aba Abdillah
– I fall down, touching the soils of Karbala
– My heart then reminds me, ‘You are from holy lineage, show the world,
how Hussain’s blood won over their Gold
-I then stand up straight to look at the sky, I say I am Zaynab, with eyes filled with
tragedy, I saw nothing but the beauty of My lord.

I cry farewell oh My Beloved

-I cry farewell oh my beloved
How do i burry you under this sand

-You will no longer be in front of my sight
How do i now stay alone and survive

– The 5th year of Muhammad’s mission
The year when he was taken on his Ascension
Was the same year Allah sent you to earth from the blessed heavens.

– How foolish were the women of Quraysh when Khadija held you in her womb
They criticized her marriage with your father and left her alone, misunderstood.

– But God’s plan was indeed very different
For during your birth when everyone left
he sent 4 women of high status at your service.

– My beloved, Zahra you then opened your eyes
– The Prophet’s joy left him praising God with this surprise.

– In every trip the Prophet would not leave without bidding farewell to you Zahra
– How do i now bid you farewell for I am your Ali, O Fatima.

– When the courageous men couldn’t defend Muhammad against Abu Jahil and his supporters
– You, at a young age shook them with your words and defended you father.

– Once in a calamity, when you heard the news of your father had broken his tooth
You ran from the land of Madina, to wash his face and comfort him in the battle of Uhud.

– I watched your love and attachment grow towards your father
– For that was one of the many reasons I was chosen as your suitor

– From the heavens above, Gibrial announced
The cousin of God’s dearest messenger
-is to be wed with his most precious daughter.

– With happiness I came at your door
– To ask for your hand, and take you as mine once and for all

– Shayness of red, colored my face
And the messenger of God understood my case.

– Your silence was an acceptance for my proposal
-I then stipulated my armor as a dowry and took you as my wife, the daughter of God’s best creation.

– With such high status, as your dowry Gibrail asked what would you like to have in your possession.
– You declined them all and chose to be an intercession for this very nation.

– 9 years had passed, just like your father you too stood with me with every trials and tribulations.

– And now the time had finally come,
The messenger of God was now departing from this world.

– Sadness and grief touched your pure soul and no one understood what was the cause
– Such sufferings had fallen which made even your bright days into dark, gloomy storms.

– To save my rights as the successor you defended me in front of the door.
– The hearts of the oppressors were so darkened that they never thought on who did they throw the burning door upon.

– With broken ribs, you remained silent
Yet this much was not enough and your rights of fadak was taken.

– I now lay you down under this sand
With tears in my eyes I feel the broken ribs upon my hand.

– I hear Hasan, Husain, Zaynab and Kulthoom weep on the floor
-I now have to comfort them all alone
– My dearest Zahra, i ask how do i do this on my own?

– With a heavy heart, I burry your holy body under this land
– I bid you farewell my dearest Zahra, for even after my death I won’t be with you in this holy land.
